Actor Biography:

Donell Sanders was born in Wilson, NC and calls Winston-Salem, NC home after graduating Winston-Salem State University (Centennial Class of 1992). He has been the Royal Curtain Drama Guild since its inception in 2010, in its first production of the RCDG original play “It’s Not About Us. He went on to capture the role of the cowardly lion in the Broadway rendition of The Wiz”, and he also brought to life the character, Sean, in another RCDG original “The Present.” Donell has been married to Yolanda Sanders for 24 years and they have a daughter. Mr. Sanders has been in many productions such as “Raisin in the Sun” and “Amen Corner” in WSSU Drama Guild, active with Sinai Players at his church, Mount Sinai Full Gospel Deliverance Center, and most recently the roles of Henry “Buster” Broadnax and Ol’ Mister in “The Color Purple” at Winston-Salem’s Theater Alliance May 2023.
